Understanding the Kia Anti-theft Immobilizer Update and Safety Recall
As of February 2023, Kia has developed theft deterrent software for millions of their vehicles that lack an immobilizer and will provide it for free to all affected vehicle owners. This updates includes an adjustment to the theft alarm software logic to extend the length of the alarm sound from 30 seconds to one minute and also requires the key to be in the ignition switch in order to turn the vehicle on.
This update recall is offered free of charge and is only available at Authorized Kia Dealerships. You can call our Emich Kia Service staff or use our online portal to schedule a service appointment for the free upgrade. Emich Kia, located in Downtown Denver, is happy to assist with protecting your vehicle.
